Gillian Robb is the passion and experience behind Training for Me. She was raised by an innovative and forward-thinking mother in the UK who launched the first childcare centre in her region. Ignoring government departments who told her childcare shouldn’t be about learning she recognised that it could and should be more than babysitting.
As local primary school teachers acknowledged that the children formerly in her care were more advanced in their education and socialisation than others, her commitment grew to ensuring best-practice learning for children and development of staff.
As a young adult, Gillian joined the family business and gained not only childcare experience, but also centre management and business experience. She became director of the centre in 1990.
Gillian brought this wealth of experience, passion and knowledge with her to Australia in 2005 and founded a successful childcare centre in Perth. It was the catalyst for launching Training For Me. She identified the need for a dedicated childcare training facility in Perth; a place where not only students, but also trainers and centre managers could come together to learn best-practice childcare techniques and management.
Her approach and commitment has been recognised, with Gillian gaining her Graduate Diploma in Management (Learning) (TAE 80210) and Graduate Diploma of Strategic Leadership (BSB80215). Gillian’s passion is the children. With a practice philosophy entrenched in the attachment theory of childcare, she is firmly focused on not only giving the tools of the trade, but also educating on how to create a secure, safe environment within which children enjoy learning.
